Covid-19: 215 cases confirmed yesterday

Malé, Maldives – The Health Protections Agency (HPA) has informed that Maldives has confirmed additional 215 Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, taking the total confirmed Covid-19 cases above 16,000.

159 of the confirmed 215 cases were recorded from the greater Malé area, 08 from the islands and the remaining 20 cases from the operational resorts, 27 from the non-operational resorts in Maldives along with 01 recorded from Live aboard and none from the Islands under development.

With these 215 confirmed cases, Maldives now has a total 1,807 active cases, summing up the confirmed positive cases to date to a total of 16,056.

While the recovery case had initially increased rapidly from less than 60 percent to 94 percent, it has now gradually decreased to 88 percent over the past few weeks. This takes the total recovery cases to 14,190 cases to date.

To date, 52 people have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 45 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.

The nationwide Covid-19 vaccination program began yesterday, with frontliners and top government officials as the first group vaccinated.
