Fuvahmulah City, Maldives – Fuvahmulah Hospital has revealed that one of the two positive cases of Covid-19 confirmed from the City has been declared a false positive, after further testing.

In an announcement made by the hospital, it was detailed that Health Protection Agency (HPA) discovered a fault in one of the samples which tested positive, resulting in a resample that was tested in the hospital’s lab, that subsequently resulted in a negative result.

Following this, individuals who were determined as direct contacts of the individual are now being notified of the development.

With this discovery, the number of active cases in the island has gone down from two to one. However, the island remains under monitoring status, as the unproblematic sample which resulted in a positive result was from a random sampling. Contact tracing efforts are ongoing, and authorities are testing direct contacts to determine the level of spread in the city.

Keep tuned for more details.
