Male’, Maldives – The British High Commissioner to the Maldives Her Excellency Caron Rohsler has paid a visit to the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ahmed Zahir Ali. The minister was accompanied by Minister of State Sheikh Ilyas Jamaal in this meeting.
In her tweet, the High Commissioner mentioned that issues such as tolerance and counter extremism were discussed. She also highlighted interest in supporting the Ministry’ programmes. No further information about the discussion was divulged by either party.

The British HC previously met the Defence Minister Mariya Didi, in October 2020, to discuss military training, aviation security and national security. Counter terrorism is a common theme discussed with both ministers.
