HEOC team arrives in Fuvahmulah City

Fuvahmulah City, Maldives – A technical advisory team of Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has arrived in Fuvahmulah City to monitor and aid the current Covid-19 situation in the city.

HEOC Spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafyg, Dr. Ahmed and Nazla Musthafa from HEOC are part of the technical team.

The team has already met with the task force put together in Fuvahmulah City to fight against Covid-19 and is scheduled to meet with the clinical service staff of Fuvahmulah Hospital. The hospital revealed that the hospital staff would be instructed on how to control the spread of the disease as much as possible during the meeting.

In addition to this, the HEOC team will also aid in identifying how much the disease has already spread within the island.

A case of Covid-19 was first identified from Fuvahmulah City last Tuesday with a random sampling coming back positive from the city’s random sampling. Since then, 14 people have tested positive for the disease. A curfew has now been implemented in the island and health professionals urge the public to adhere to the guidelines as to minimize the spread of the virus as much as possible.
