BREAKING: 71 Covid-19 positive cases from Fuvahmulah today

Fuvahmulah City, Maldives – Fuvahmulah Emergency Operation Center reports that 71 people have tested positive today in Fuvahmulah City.

At a press conference held today, Fuvahmulah city council said that the positive cases are from samples collected on 17 and 18 May 2021.

The Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has revealed that there are currently over 2,000 active Covid-19 cases present in 105 islands of the Maldives.

While speaking at the news conference held by the HEOC, Ahmed Nazim spoke on behalf of the Atoll Preparedness and stated that there are currently 2,696 active Covid-19 cases present in 105 islands of Maldives and that 63 islands are under monitoring status.

Nazim noted that the virus is seen from the majority of the islands under monitoring status due to individuals who violated the quarantine rules and went to crowded places, and from people who were tested for the virus because they were symptomatic.

HEOC advises all the people currently residing in the monitoring islands to maintain their activities according to the guidelines provided by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).
