Authorities investigate health news website “Amilla Sihhathu” for false information

Malé, Maldives — The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has decided to investigate a Maldivian website that is spreading false information about health.

While speaking at a press conference held in Dharubaaruge, the Director of HPA, Ahmed Nasir informed that they have found a website called “Amilla Sihhathu” (literally translating Own Health) that is spreading incorrect information about health and that the authorities are currently investigating the matter.

Along with this, Nasir noted that there are several other websites and Facebook pages that are spreading false information about health as well. This is why, he advised the citizens that it is very important to avoid believing false information.

While the Health Protection Agency has informed that they will be taking actions against everyone who spread false information about health related matters in the country, the public is raising their concerns on social media questioning why the agency has not yet taken an action against the “Amilla Sihhathu” website.
