Male’, Maldives — The Health Protection Agency (HPA) informed that the information indicating that the new arrival from the United Kingdom is the cause of the new wedding cluster is untrue.

While HPA had recently informed that a new arrival from UK who is linked to the wedding cluster in Maldives has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, several people have spread false information saying that the wedding cluster was caused due to this individual.

However, HPA cleared out the information and stated that the person who arrived from UK just belongs to one of the families in the wedding cluster and is not the cause of the cluster.

Infact, HPA noted that this individual had arrived to Maldives after the wedding and hence, has no connections to the cluster.

While the wedding was held on December 20 in Male’, HPA informed that the wedding is estimated to have 120 attendees and that contact tracing efforts are currently ongoing in the island.

Till date, HPA informed that 41 individuals from the wedding cluster case has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
