COVID-19: Addu starts collecting random samples

Addu City – With the growing number of Covid-19 cases and suspected community spread, Addu Emergency Operation Center (Addu EOC) has started collecting random samples for Covid-19 tests.

Addu EOC confirms that the Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) will conduct the random sampling from 12:00 to 18:00 today in all the districts.

The total active cases in the city has gone up to 58, with cases attributed to two different clusters. The aviation cluster currently has 33 active cases, while the Hulhumeedhoo MTCC cluster has 25 active cases.

5 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24hrs in Addu City. Of the total active cases, 4 are hospitalized in the Covid-19 treatment facility established in the city. The hospitalized individuals are an expatriate worker, a Maldivian, a 79 year old from Feydhoo and a 62 year old from Hithadhoo.

Addu City is currently under monitoring and observing curfew from 20:00 to 04:00.
