Addu calls for volunteers as the Covid-19 situation worsens

Addu City, Maldives – Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH), on Wednesday, announced for frontline volunteers as the Covid-19 situation in the city worsens.

The announcement by AEH stated that all interested persons are to email a cover letter and CV to info@aeh.gov.mv before 13:00 on 7 September 2021.

Over the past 24 hours, the Southernmost city of Maldives reported 22 new cases with 6 new positive cases recorded in Hithadhoo, 8 in Maradhoo, 1 in Maradhoofeydhoo, 3 in Feydhoo and 4 new cases in Meedhoo. Of the new cases, 1 case is from random samples. Hospitalized cases have jumped to 4.

At present there are a total of 229 active cases in the city with 59 cases in Hithadhoo, 112 in Maradhoo, 20 in Maradhoofeydhoo, 23 in Feydhoo, 13 in Meedhoo and 1 case each in Hulhudhoo and Gan.

The joint islands of Addu City were placed under monitoring by Health Protection Agency (HPA) on 28 August with curfew imposed on Saturday amid an increasing number of Covid-19 cases. However, Meedhoo and connecting Hulhudhoo were exempt from the monitoring status.

Addu EOC released a statement detailing the measures to be observed in Addu City effective 30 August 2021, after Health Protection Agency (HPA) placed Addu City’s connected islands, Hithadhoo, Feydhoo, Maradhoo and Maradhoo Feydhoo under monitoring status.
