COVID-19: Additional 4 cases confirmed in Fuvahmulah

Fuvahmulah, Maldives – Four new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded from Fuvahmulah City.

The Fuvahmulah Emergency Operations Center (FEOC) informed that from 1800hrs of February 13th till 1800hrs of February 14, the city has confirmed additional four Covid-19 cases.

The FEOC detailed that one of the confirmed new four cases was of an individual who had consulted to the flu clinic for being symptomatic, while the remaining three individuals were contacts of the cluster in Fuvahmulah City.

Along with these four cases, the total active cases in the city has raised to 20 within the past few days. The Fuvahmulah Hospital has revealed that 620 individuals were identified as contacts of the two active clusters of Covid-19 in the city.

Detailing the discovery of high contacts in connection to the clusters, Senior Community Officer of Fuvahmulah Hospital Aminath Ahmed said that 61 individuals were identified as contacts of one of the two individuals who tested positive from the flu clinic, while the other individual had 31 contacts.

With this, the number of direct contacts have reached 620, including 25 individuals who fall into the high risk category, and 15 individuals who are symptomatic.

According to authorities, one cluster is connected to an individual who was in quarantine after arriving to the city from Dubai, while the other cluster was identified when two individuals consulted the flu clinic in the city.

Since the first Covid-19 positive case out of quarantine, the single island city has been placed under monitoring, with strict movement restrictions until all contacts are identified, quarantined and tested.
