COVID-19: Additional 2 cases confirmed in Fuvahmulah

Fuvahmulah City, Maldives – Two additional cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Fuvahmulah City as of February 16.

Fuvahmulah Emergency Operations Center (FEOC) informed that from 18:00 of 15 February to 18:00 of 16 February 2021, the city has confirmed additional two Covid-19 cases.

The FEOC detailed that the two new positive cases were found through contact tracing currently in progress in Fuvahmulah City.

With the two new cases which have been recorded, the total number of active cases in Fuvahmulah City has risen to 26. Within the direct contacts, 45 high risk people and 12 people with symptoms were identified by FEOC. There are 95 pending samples awaiting results in the city.

According to authorities, one cluster is connected to an individual who was in quarantine after arriving to the city from Dubai, while the other cluster was identified when two individuals consulted the flu clinic in the city.

Since the first Covid-19 positive case out of quarantine, the single island city has been placed under monitoring, with strict movement restrictions until all contacts are identified, quarantined and tested.
