Land from Kela to be given for tourism purposes

HA. Atoll, Maldives — The Tourism Ministry of Maldives and the city council has signed an agreement to give lands of Kela for tourism purposes.

The signing ceremony was held virtually where the agreement was signed by the President of Kela Council, Adam and the Senior Policy Director of the Tourism Ministry, Mohamed Hussan. The Tourism Minister of Maldives, Dr. Abdullah Mausoom also participated in this ceremony.

Under this agreement, Kelaa will release fourteen lands for tourism purposes. Out of these, twelve lands are for guesthouses which should be approximately 5,000 square feet and the remaining two lands that are 10,000 square feet to build tourist hotels. The Ministry informed that they will be bidding the lands once the procedures are completed.

Last year, the Ministry assigned Fedo Investment the task of building a hotel in Kelaa of 864,414 square feet land along with a beach near the area which would be specialized for the tourism purposes.
