Addu City, Maldives – Managing Director of Inner Maldives, Mohamed Firaq Has stated that flights between Addu City and United Arab Emirates (UAE) will start very soon.
Speaking at the land handover ceremony for development and operation of tourist hotels and guest houses in Addu City, Firaq said that good news will arrive about Addu City being connected to UAE via other airlines very soon.
He also added that SriLankan Airlines will also restart its operations to Addu City very soon, but did not mention exact dates for both SriLankan and the UAE flight commencement.
Firaq had previously stated in a tweet that with the collaborate effort, the country will soon hear a surprising good news regarding the tourism zone in southern Maldives.
Minister Mausoom retweeted this and stated that the Tourism Ministry is very optimistic of tourism gaining momentum in the southern of Maldives, especially in Addu City with the support and engagement from enterprising industry partners such as Mohamed Firaq and Waleedh.
Firaq’s statement comes while the only international airline which was operating to Addu City, SriLankan Airlines had stopped its operations on March 19, 2020 amid Covid-19 pandemic. Both the airline and its local agent, Inner Maldives had not given any details previously of when the airline will restart its operations to Gan.
