Administering the Covid-19 vaccine will not break fast during Ramadan: Shaheem

Male’, Maldives —The Former Islamic Minister of Maldives, Mohamed Shaheem has stated that administering the Coivd-19 vaccine will not break the fast during the month of Ramadan.

HPA previously announced that they will be administering the Covid-19 vaccine at night in the upcoming Ramadan month of April.

Shaheem tweeted to say that administering the Covid-19 vaccine will not break the fast of an individual as it does not belong in the foods and drinks category.

This is because it does not belong in the foods and drinks category and because it is not ingested with the mouth.

Till date, the country has vaccinated over 200,000 residents in the Maldives with the first Covid-19 dose of the Covishield vaccine.

Currently vaccination is in progress in Malé and islands. Maldives has approved three vaccines for emergency approval; Pfizer, Covishield and Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine.
