Male’, Maldives – Presidents Office has stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is currently in home quarantine.
Presidents Office stated this due to the ongoing rumors that the President will come to Addu City without completing quarantine following his official visit to Qatar and Bangladesh last week.
Spokesperson of the Presidents Office, Mohamed Mabrook Azeez told that after concluding the visit to Qatar and Bangladesh, the President is now in home quarantine.
The President will follow Health Protection Agency (HPA) guidelines. I give full assurance that the President is in home quarantine at present.

Spokesperson Mabrook further added that if the President decides to visit the islands, it will be planned after his home quarantine ends.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih returned from his trip to Qatar and Bangladesh on March 20, 2021 along with First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a delegation of the government’s high-ranking officials who accompanied the President on his visit.
The main purpose of the President’s visit to Qatar was the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which was severed by the former government.
During the trip, President Solih met the Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, in which the President and the Amir discussed ways of strengthening the bilateral bond between the two countries.
After the trip to Qatar, President Solih proceeded to visit Bangladesh on a two-day trip, where he met with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, followed by meetings with other senior officials of the Bangladeshi government. Discussions focused on ways of further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The President also visited the National Martyrs’ Memorial, locally identified as Jatiyo Smriti Soudho which is an important national monument situated in the district of Savar Upazila, within the capital of Bangladesh. President Solih attended a ceremony commemorating the 100th birthday of Centenary of Bangabandhu, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
