Male’, Maldives —The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has informed that a fuel boat with 10,000 liters of diesel has sunk.
MNDF informs that the fuel was sealed and packed properly and therefore no spill has been detected yet. Efforts are underway to resurface vessel.
MNDF tweeted that at 11:00 in the morning, they received information that a Maldivian fuel boat named “Savaaree” which was traveling from K.Thilafushi in Hulhumale’ was sinking due to rough seas near Hulhumalé phase 2.

MNDF MA Coast Guard Squadron was active on the scene. The three individuals on board were evacuated by a nearby safari.
With the country fluctuating from white to orange alert since yesterday, MNDF advises taking precautions since Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) has been receiving information of incidents happening at sea.
