Felivaru cluster: Positive cases jump to 150

Lh. Atoll, Maldives –Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) reports that positive cases at Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) has escalated to 150.

Of the 150 positive cases, 66 individuals are Maldivians while 84 are foreigners.

Felivaru was placed under monitoring on 24 March when a worker tested positive for Covid-19.

MIFCO has previously stated that their product supply will not be hindered, even though Lh. Felivaru is currently under monitoring status.

According to statistics released by HPA, 241 positive cases were recorded yesterday. It was detailed that out of the 241 cases, 73 were from the Malé area, while 74 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also included the 15 new found cases from operational resorts and the 79 case from an industrial island which brought up the total active cases in the country to 2,849.

Since the country recorded its first case of Covid-19, Maldives has reported 67 deaths in connection to Covid-19. The deceased are 60 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.
