Male’, Maldives —The President of the ruling MDP Party and Speaker of the Maldives Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has stated that giving the Council to the Opposition coalition in the upcoming Local Council Elections (LCE) is equal to giving Dracula a blood bank.
While speaking at a campaign event in Malé yesterday, Nasheed stated that when the Opposition party received an opportunity to take care of the the capital Male’ city council, they destroyed the place, throwing chairs and tables everywhere, locking the councilors out and entombing the place.
Nasheed stated that giving the council to a group of political people who contradict the decentralization system is equal to giving Dracula a blood bank and so requested the citizens to not let that happen at any cost.
Nasheed also mentioned that the next city council will be a city council that works on the welfare of the Male’ city and that this is something the residents of Male’ city must think about deeply.
This current system [Decentralization system] is built to fulfill the needs that the residents of Male’ city within the system. For this to be accomplished, the residents of Male’ city will undoubtedly agree Male’ needs an MDP City Council.

Nasheed assured that if Male’ is under the supervision of MDP, the changes that the citizens are asking for will be visible in the near future.
