Maldives Customs apprehends drugs worth MVR 4.7 million

Malé, Maldives – Maldives Customs Service informs that they have apprehended drugs worth MVR 4,737,000 on 17 April 2021.

Customs released this information, stating that these drugs were intercepted in two separate occasions when courier parcels were inspected. A total of 1.579 grams of cocaine was found in the two packages.

The first package originated from Nigeria with 1032 grams of cocaine and the other from Jamaica with 547 grams of cocaine. Both were intercepted on Saturday.

The case has now been handed over to Maldives Police for further investigation.

Earlier this year, in January 2021, cocaine weighing 3.12 kilo grams, worth MVR 10.9 million was seized from two individuals who arrived in the Maldives from Brazil and Latvia.
