Maldives Customs seize drugs worth over MVR 21 million from Brazilian travellers

Male’, Maldives – Maldives Customs Service, this Saturday seized drugs worth MVR 15 million in street value from two inbound Brazilian travellers.

The luggage of a 21 year old Brazilian man and a 23 year old Brazilian woman who arrived to Maldives on Saturday was checked by the Customs due to suspicious behaviour.

Upon testing products suspected to be drugs found in their luggage, the substance was confirmed to be Cocaine.

The Brazilian man was in possession of 1.76kg of drugs while the woman was carrying 2.50kg. The total amount seized today adds up to 4.26kgs.

This amount of cocaine has a street value of MVR 21,315,000 in Maldives, according to the Customs.

The drugs and the Brazilians have been taken under the custody of Maldives Police Service for further investigation.
