Covid-19: Person who disobeyed home quarantine rules tests positive in Addu City

Addu City, Maldives – Person who had violated home quarantine in Addu City has tested positive for Covid-19.

Speaking to ‘The Times of Addu’, Mayor Abdulla Sodiq told that the individual had come from another island to take part in the Goadhiyya Futsal Tournament which is to start on April 28, 2021 in Maradhoo island.

Mayor Sodiq told that even though the individual had completed his quarantine period, that he did not follow the regulation of waiting in quarantine until his results came back and had gone out of the quarantined location. Mayor also added that the individual had played two practice matches and that his results came back while he was at his futsal practice.

Mayor highlighted that he was not cooperating for contact tracing and that further information can only be revealed after a full contact tracing was completed. Mayor Sodiq had requested everyone who met the individual to cooperate with the authorities.

Mayor Sodiq also told that while the coach of the team to which the individual belonged to had self-quarantined himself that he did not inform any authorities for over three days.
