Malé, Maldives – The small island nation has recorded six Covid-19 deaths yesterday marking it the highest number of fatalities recorded on a single day.
The last person to pass away was an elderly woman who was brought to IGMH emergency room last night. Following the tests done after she passed away, it was found that she was Covid-19 positive.
In addition to this, two people from Lh. Naifaru, two people being treated at Hulhumalé Covid Facility and an Indian who was in quarantine in AA. Rasdhoo also passed away due to Covid-19 yesterday.
With this, the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country has risen to 80. The deceased are 72 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals, a Filipino national and two Indian nationals.
While Maldives recorded the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases since the pandemic hit the tiny island nation with 703 cases yesterday, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 33,368 out of which 25,675 patients have made full recoveries, as of 18:00 of May 6, 2021. Currently the total number of active cases in the country stands at 7,607 with 203 people admitted in hospitals.
