Terrorism stories are being buried; follow the money trail: MP Nihad

Male’, Maldives —The MP of Constituency of Feydhoo, Mohamed Nihadh has said that it appears as if some people are bribing to bury the terrorism stories, and if the money trails are followed it could lead to the financiers of the terror plot against Speaker Nasheed.

MP Nihadh tweeted regarding the matter and stated that it appears as if someone putting money into burying the terrorism stories and that the Police needs to properly investigate the financiers.

If we find who is financing [to bury the terrorism stories], then we can find out financed the bomb?

MP Nihadh said this referring to the IED explosion that went off around 20:20 on the night of 6 May 2021, leaving Former President and current Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed critically injured while he was getting in to his car near his house, G. Kenereege, Malé City. 

The bomb contained bearing balls which in order to increase the impact of the explosion. Doctors retracted 11 such projectiles from Speaker Nasheed’s body. Maldives Police Service stated that the explosion was a terrorist attack targeting Parliament Speaker, Mohamed Nasheed.

The statement from MP Nihadh comes at a point where a list of alleged names of those complicit in the MMPRC corruption is circulating the media. This list reveals that there were multiple high ranking officials of the state along with some of the MDP and opposition Parliamentary members as well.
