Covid-19 death toll rises to 92 in the Maldives

Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency informed that an additional person has passed away due to Covid-19 today increasing the total number of fatalities to 92.

According to HPA, a 63 year old Maldivian female admitted at DH11 was declared dead at 23:53 last night bringing yesterday’s death toll to five deaths.

With the five deaths yesterday, the total number of fatalities of Covid-19 in the island nation has risen to 92. While Covid-19 cases has been on a rise recently, Maldives has recorded over 1,000 daily cases for the past four days with 1,467 cases recorded yesterday as well.

According to HPA, the figures include 939 cases from the past 24 hours and the remaining 528 cases were from backlogged samples.In the statistics released by HPA, it was detailed that out of the 1,467 cases, 1,267 were from the Malé area, while 182 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also included 18 case from operational resorts which brought up the total active cases in the country to 15,003.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 42,775 out of which 27,672 patients have made full recoveries, as of 18:00 of May 14, 2021.
