Malé, Maldives – Case of family appointed caretaker abusing an elderly person admitted at Hulhumalé Medical Facility has been lodged at police.
According to Spokesperson of Presidents Office, Mabrouq Azeez, the case has now been filed with Maldives Police Service and the matter is being investigated. He had also revealed that the caretaker has been removed and the family has been informed.
From the video leaked on social media, the caretaker can be seen hitting the elderly person after which the patient starts to cry.
According to local media sources, families have been appointing caretakers for their elderly parents who have been admitted at Hulhumalé Medical Facility.
This case has surfaced while many people have been passing away due to Covid-19 who have been admitted at Hulhumalé Medical Facility and its case has been sent to Maldives Parliament. It has been reported that over 27 deaths have been recorded from the facility this month alone.
