Highest expenditure recorded from Education and Housing Ministry in 2021

Malé, Maldives – The Finance Ministry in their financial report have noted that from among the government ministries, the Education Ministry, Housing Ministry and Health Ministry have incurred the highest expenses as of April 2021.

This is due to the Education Ministry having spent MVR 949.1 million while the Health Ministry spent MVR 785.3 million and the Housing Ministry with MVR 660.2 million as of April 2021.

The Education Ministry has already spent 31 percent of the total budget allowed for the financial year altogether. The Ministry has spent MVR 949.1 million as of now, out of the MVR 3054.8 million provided for the entire year. The expenditure has increased compared to the same time period of last year, during which the Education Ministry spent MVR 880.2 million.

The Heath Ministry has spent 29.5 percent of the budget allowed for the year. This includes MVR 785.3 million out of the MVR 2665 million provided for the year. This is a decreament compared to the same time last year in which expenditure of the Ministry rose to MVR 831.8 million.

In addition to this, the Housing Ministry spent MVR 724.7 million from January to April in 2020 whereas they have spent MVR 660.2 during the same time period this year. This is 12.4 percent of the budget allowed foe the year which is MVR 5328.6 million.
