Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that four people have passed away due to Covid-19.
HPA had revealed that a 72 year old Maldivian female had passed away at 23:34 last night at Hulhumalé Medical Facility while a 64 year old Maldivian male had also passed away at 00:42 at the same facility marking the 178th and 179th casualty in the island nation.
In addition to this, a 79 year old Maldivian female who was admitted at the same facility had also passed away at 00:52 this morning while being treated for Covid-19.
The fourth person to succumb to Covid-19 was a 28 year old Maldivian female who was admitted at DH11 facility at Dharumavantha Hospital who had passed away at 04:19 this morning brining the nations total deaths to 181.
These four cases come while Maldives had recorded two deaths yesterday, which included a 37 year old Sri Lankan male and a 77 year old Maldivian female.
The deaths comes while the number of daily Covid-19 cases has dropped below 500 for the first time since May 2, 2021 yesterday as Maldives reported 432 cases.
In the statistics released by HPA, it was detailed that out of the 432 cases, 249 were from the Malé area, while 154 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also included 29 case from operational resorts which brought the total active cases in the country to 21,032.
With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 66,948 out of which 45,730 patients have made full recoveries, as of 18:00 of June 4, 2021.
