Dr Farah appointed as President of Women in Diplomacy Network

Malé, Maldives – High Commissioner of Maldives to the United Kingdom and Ambassador of Maldives to France and Ireland Dr Farahanaz Faisal has been appointed as the President of the Women in Diplomacy Network.

Dr Farahanaz succeeded the current President Linda Scott, who is also the Namibian High Commissioner to the UK. She was appointed to the post in a ceremony held at the Georgian Embassy in the UK yesterday and announced her remarkable achievement in posts on her Social media accounts.

Dr Farahanaz said that her Vice President will be Sophie Katsarava, the UK Ambassador to Georgia. Day to day work of the network will be lead by the Deputy of the UAE Ambassador to the UK.

Dr Farahanaz and Vice President Sophie Katsarava will begin their presidency from July onwards. The Presidency of WID changes every 6 months.

In addition to this, Dr Farahanaz said that she is deeply honoured and humbled to be taking over the Presidency of the WID and that theme is going to be Women & Climate Change. She noted that this is a wonderful moment for Maldives and for the women diplomats of Maldives.

The purpose of Women in Diplomacy network based in the United Kingdom is to build a long-lasting network of female Diplomats, demonstrating leadership on gender issues, upskilling female Diplomats to support their career development and impact as leaders. In addition to this, leveraging existing success in creating an open and inclusive working environment where everyone can flourish is also a purpose of the network.
