- Mats Hummel’s own goal separates the side
- France scored twice, both goals ruled offside
- Pogba masterclass won man of the match
France wins over Germany in the second match of Group F, the ‘group of death’.
It was Germany’s home turf, but France took the lead in the 20th minute of the match through an own goal by experienced defended Mats Hummels.
Hummels, who was the hero for the Germans as he scored the only goal in World Cup Quarter finals 7 years ago. Germany went on to win that World Cup, beating Argentina in the final.
France was the dominant side in last night’s first half. However, tides changed in the second, Germany started to attack from all flanks. Both teams had a single shot on target throughout the whole game, but Germany had taken 10 shots to France’s 4.
Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema both scored second half goals but both goals were ruled out for playing from an offside position.
Paul Pogba was the star of the night winning the man of the match award.
