Malé, Maldives – Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced that the Hiya Flats draw which was scheduled for today, has now been postponed to tomorrow due to a technical issue.
HDC announced that the draw will continue live tomorrow and that flats will be disbursed to 7 categories.

- Civil Service category
- Single parents
- Married people between 18 and 41 years of age
- Malé citizens
- Registered citizens in Malé
- Police category
The Hiya Flats draw previously came to an abrupt halt due to the worsening Covid-19 situation in Maldives. However, HDC has now decided to continue with the disbursement of flats as the situation improves.
Hiya flats are a social housing project commenced by the government of former President Yameen, in an attempt to give affordable living spaces to the citizens of Maldives.Without the down payment, the current government has decided that the monthly rate would be MVR 7,500 for the 6,270 flats.
Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam stated that with the down payment, the monthly rate would be lower. The date for signing the agreements and giving the keys to the owners of the flats has not been decided yet. Although, the President’s Spokesperson Mabrooq Azeez stated that the keys will be given at sometime this month.
