Malé, Maldives – The Parliamentary authority has advised the representative for Dhaalu Atoll’s Meedhoo Constituency Ahmed Siyam Mohamed for saying that the MP for Baa Atoll’s Thulhaadhoo Constituency Hisaan Hussain, should be hanged to death.
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Eva Abdullah verbally counseled MP Siyam on his error and added that he will also be given a written reprimand, as per the decision of the Ethics Committee.
The Ethics Committee previously stated that the MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed must ask MP Hisaan Hussain for forgiveness regarding his recent unsavory comments.
The incident took place on June 6 after a meeting with the 241 committees when Siyam spoke to Hisaan very impolitely and stated in front of other Parliament members that it would not be a sin to hang Hisaan to death.
As such behaviour should not be seen from a member of the Parliament, the chairman, MP for Vilufushi Constituency Hassan Afeef informed that the issue has been sent to the Parliament’s Committee on Member’s Privileges and Ethics along with Police and the Defence Ministry to further investigate it.
