Malé, Maldives – Dr Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital reports the third death in the Maldives today with the passing of 70-year-old Maldivian man.
The passing of the Covid-19 patient being treated at the facility increases the death toll at the facility to 3.
Earlier today neighboring GA. Covid-19 Facility reported a death of a Maldivian woman while capital city Malé reported an additional death with the passing of another Maldivian woman.
With the most recent death, 2 people have passed away from the islands today while one from Malé.
Maldives recently saw the biggest wave of Covid-19 to have hit the country since the pandemic began with record number of daily cases. Alarmingly, the most recent case numbers indicate a higher positive rate in the islands while capital city Malé recovers.
Even as Covid-19 numbers decline slowly and citizens are advised to strictly obey HPA guidelines and remain at home as much a possible.
Maldives recorded 138 new cases of Covid-19 yesterday taking the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Maldives to 73,798. The new cases include 13 cases from greater Malé area, 105 cases from inhabited islands, 7 cases from operational resorts as well as 13 cases from industrial islands. While the country recorded 69,974 recoveries so far, the 212th Covid-19 deaths have been recorded in Maldives since the pandemic began in 2020.
