Male’, Maldives – Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command of Indian Navy, Vice Admiral (VAdm) A.K.Chawla on Sunday paid a courtesy call to Defence Minister of Maldives, Mariya Didi.

The visit from VAdm A.K Chawla is followed by the end of the 4th edition of Maldives National Defence Force’s “Exercise Ekathi” program with the Indian Navy Marine Commandos.

During their brief meeting, Minister Mariya appreciated the support provided by the Indian Navy towards the pandemic, undertaking the EEZ surveillance and towards training of the MNDF personnel.

Along with Minister Mariya, VAdm A.K Chawla also met the Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdullah Shahid where they discussed importance of cooperation between countries in maintaining peace &security in the Indian Ocean Region, especially in light of emerging security threats.

Foreign Minister Shahid mphasised on nurturing greater foreign relations & extended his continued support for enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
