Malé, Maldives – Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed on Monday, announced that he cannot continue political work with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, citing differences in political ideology.
In a message Nasheed sent to a Whatsapp group of MDP, he said that although there are no personal issues between the pair, political work cannot be carried together any further due to the difference in political ideologies between them.

He further added that while he cares little for any negative sentiments that some members of MDP may express, he will be going forward with collaborating with former President Yameen Abdul Qayyoom – his biggest political rival -and his party PPM, should they be open to moderate religious views.
This comes at a time, when Nasheed has previously announced intentions to overturn the Presidential system of the country to a Parliamentary system, prior to the end of the current presidential term.
