Malé, Maldives – MP of Addu Meedhoo Constituency Rozaina Adam on Tuesday, said that Former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administrator was far more ruthless than she thought and that they cannot work with Former President Yameen against Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Former President and Current Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed, recently stated that he can no longer maintain a political relationship with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and that he was willing to get assistance from former President Yameen and the opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
Addressing these statements, MP Rozaina tweeted saying that MDP had seen how Former President Yameen ruled during his presidency and hence should be working to prevent it. She added that Yameen’s presidency was far more ruthless than expected and that he’s currently serving a jail sentence for money laundering.
Defencing President Solih she expressed that he was not ruthless and that he does not commit theft. She added that despite the ongoing pandemic, the government is carrying out development projects.
MP Rozaina also raised questions as to what President Solih has done to support extremism and why should anyone side with Former President Yameen against President Solih.
Speaker Nasheed sent a message to a WhatsApp group with several MDP members yesterday, saying that he does not have a problem with President Solih and that they will not have one. However, he added that there are conflicts in their mindsets which is why he cannot have a political relationship with President Solih. Nasheed added that his personal relationship with the President will remain the same.
Furthermore, Nasheed said that there is nothing to do even if MDP members have a problem with this and that he will go to PPM for help if they support a medium religious policy.
