Maldives Police Service destroys over 176kg of drugs

Dhoonidhoo, Maldives – The Maldives Police Service informed today that they have destroyed 176.55kg of confiscated drugs in police possession.

Police state that the drugs destroyed today include 1000g cannabis confiscated in 2006, 2925.95g cocaine confiscated in 2016, drugs confiscated between July to December 2020 and 71,874.10g heroin confiscated in 2021.

In addition, the police destroyed items used to consume substances. 5418 rubber packets, 3312 cellophane pieces, 351 film containers, 193 bullets, 15 joints, 1460 pills and miscellaneous 3746 items were also destroyed. An extra 146,412g heroin, 19,003.60g cannabis, 36.18g amphetamines, 714.65g methamphetamines and 596.87g MDMA and 9784.57g were destroyed.

The drugs and paraphernalia were destroyed while wearing safety masks and under the monitoring of the committee created by the Prosecutor General.
