Male’, Maldives – Elections Commission of Maldives opens online voter re-registration for Women’s Development Committee by-elections in five electoral districts in the Maldives.
Elections Commissions reveal that the five districts open for by-elections are HDh. Nolhivaram, K. Dhiffushi, AA. Feridhoo, R. Kendhikulhudhoo, and N. Magoodhoo.
Spokesperson of Elections Commission, Fuad Thaufeeq informed local media outlet “Sun” that the voters who wish to re-register in polling stations, in a location different than they have originally registered for in the April elections, can apply for re-registration via an online portal starting from this Thursday till July 26th.
A copy of an unexpired official identification document must be submitted with the re-registration form through the portal. However, as the National Registration earlier announced that the expiry date of all ID cards have been extended till August 31, Fuad mentioned that the expired ID cards will be accepted till the aforementioned date.
While this is the first time Elections Commission has allowed online voter re-registration, Fuad informed that the Elections Commission is working on facilitating online registration in all the major elections that will be held in the Maldives in the near future.
