Malé, Maldives – The Islamic Ministry on Saturday, has informed mosques in the greater Malé area to stop social distancing and recitation of Qunut al-Nazila during congregational prayers.
Islamic Ministry stated that several Covid-19 restrictions are being eased due to the decreasing number of cases and that this is why, the ministry is ordering to stop social distancing and recitation of Qunut al-Nazila during congregational prayers.
Even though social distancing is being stopped during congregational prayers, the ministry informs everyone to strictly follow other HPA guidelines when attending mosque for prayers.
The new policy is being implemented from today’s early morning prayer onwards. The ministry stated that although they are stopping the recitation of Qunut al-Nazila, they encourage the public to regularly do prayers, recite Qur’an and pray for a quick recovery from the pandemic and the country’s economical situation.
Congregational prayers were previously stopped in Malé City due to the increased number of Covid-19 cases in the area. However, congregational prayers with social distancing were commenced on July 1st, with the improving Covid-19 situation.
