Qatar Airways aircraft lands at VIA after damages to window midair

Malé, Maldives – A Qatar Airways flight on Friday, made an emergency landing at Velana International Airport (VIA) after a window shattered mid-flight.

The flight had departed from VIA to travel to Qatar at 7:45 pm. The window shattered around 40 minutes from the lift-off at an altitude of 40,000 feet.

According to information received by local media Sun, the window shattered in Qatar Airways’ flight number QR677 which was enroute to Qatar’s capital Doha.

It has been reported that the window shattered on the left side of the cockpit. No passenger or crew member have injured in the incident.

No additional statements have been made regarding the incident by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
