JUST IN: Pfizer vaccination campaign for school students to kickstart in the islands tomorrow

Malé, Maldives – Children over 12 years of age in the islands are to be vaccinated with Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine starting tomorrow.

While the vaccination of children were to be launched in the capital city Malé, local news Mihaaru reports that schools in the islands are launching the vaccination tomorrow.

Education Ministry has not formally announced the launch of the school student vaccination campaign. While the Covid-19 vaccination for school students are arranged through the Education Ministry, students will be inoculated at vaccination centres according to Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC).

Schools in Addu City are also in the process of registering their students for Covid-19 vaccination. Pfizer vaccine is to be administered to students between the ages 12 to 17 years of age.

The Pfizer vaccination campaign is facilitated by the 128،700 doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine donated to the Maldives by the United States on Friday, 9 August 2021.
