BREAKING: Vaccination begins in 15 schools for students

Male’, Maldives – 15 schools in Maldives has begun vaccinating students above the age of 12 with the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.

While the vaccination program has begun for the children between the ages of 12 to 17, Health Minister, Ahmed Naseem states that the Ministry aims to vaccinate 600 students today and to have 90% of the eligible population in Maldives vaccinated by the end of this month.

Pfizer vaccine has been sent to many islands already and they will begin vaccination today. At least 15 islands will administer Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine today, and some already began vaccination last night.

Education Minister Dr Aishath Ali expressed relief that with the administration of Covid-19 vaccine in schools as the Ministry has received assurance that schools will no longer have to close due to the fear of Covid-19.

On August 09, Maldives received the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine shipment gifted from the United States. It consists of 128, 700 doses of Pfizer vaccine doses.
