HPA confirms additional 95 Covid-19 cases

Male’, Maldives – The Health Protection Agency (HPA) yesterday confirmed additional 95 Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

In the statistics released by HPA, it was detailed that out of the 95 cases, 26 were from the Malé area, while 56 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also revealed that 13 new cases were found from operational resorts, leaving 1,648 active cases in the country. 

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Maldives has reached 79,959 out of which 78,075 patients have made full recoveries, as of August 22, 2021. To date, 223 people have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives.

While there are 1,750 active cases within the country, Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) reveals that 146 active cases are from the southernmost atoll, Addu City with the addition of 10 new cases that were confirmed yesterday; six cases from Maradhoo and two cases from Feydhoo and the remaining two cases from Hithadhoo.

With this, the active cases in Maradhoo and Feydhoo has risen to 81 and 14, respectively. The remaining active cases are in Hithadhoo (12) and Maradhoofeydhoo (39). Currently, there are no active cases in Hulhumeedhoo. 

At present, a total of 748 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Addu City, out of which, 600 people have made full recoveries. Only two deaths have been recorded from Addu City to date.
