COVID-19: Over 1600 active cases in Maldives

Malé, Maldives – Statistics released by Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveal that there are 1,686 active Covid-19 cases in Maldives.

HPA stated that 86 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the Maldives on Friday.

While 37 cases were from the Malé area, 37 cases were also recorded from inhabited islands. Additionally, 6 new cases were found from operational resorts, adding upto 1,686 active cases in the country.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Maldives has reached 83,332 out of which 81,404 patients have made full recoveries, as of September 17, 2021. Till date, the country has recorded 229 Covid-19 related fatalities.

Meanwhile, Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) revealed that Addu City recorded 6 new cases as of Sunday. The statistics released by AEH showed that with the additional cases, the total number of active cases in Addu City is now at 262.

At present, the highest number of active cases are in Maradhoo with 124 cases, followed by Hithadhoo with 78 active Covid-19 cases and Feydhoo with 31 cases, while Maradhoofeydhoo has 5 cases.

The remaining two islands in Addu City, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo was brought into monitoring status on September 4th after Covid-19 cases started to rise in the islands. AEH informs that there are 15 active cases in Meedhoo and 9 active cases in Hulhudhoo as of this Sunday.
