Shaviyani Atoll, Maldives – Maldives Police confirms that a 17 year old boy has been kidnapped in an island in Sh. Atoll.
The boy was reported as missing last night and a team from Gender Ministry has been dispatched to the island to investigate. Local news Mihaaru reports that Gender Ministry has confirmed the minor’s safety.
The teenager has been reported to have suffered injuries, however, the authorities have not revealed any details due to the sensitivity of the case.
The island’s Council President has confirmed that such as case took place in the island, informs that the police and Gender Ministry are currently investigating the case.
Previously in June 2021, a kidnapped 13 year old’s body was found discarded in sea of Hulhumalé Phase 2 following a 48-hour search. In Fenruary 2021, a 17 year old teen was murdered in a gang altercation in GA. Atoll.
