Male’, Maldives – The audio of a law has been released by the Auditor General’s Office (AGO) for the first time in Maldives’ history on Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Provision of Financial Assistance.

AGO tweeted early morning today to inform that they have made an audio on Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Provision of Financial Assistance Act with the assistance from United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Australian Government, under the attempt to make people more aware of the laws of the Maldives.

This is specifically aimed at people with disabilities under the attempt to allow people to easily access the laws in the online platform of AGO.

AGO mentioned that they have planned to release more audios of the laws of Maldives in the upcoming future.

National Bureau of Statistics of Maldives reveals that there are over 36,000 citizens in Maldives who have different types of disabilities, of which majority have vision loss. While this is about 24% of the Maldivian population, having an audio of a law allows these citizens to be further aware of the laws in Maldives.
