COVID-19: Daily recorded cases from the islands rise above 100!

Malé, Maldives – Statistics released by Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveal that cases from the atolls have jumped above 100.

As per the agency, out of the new cases, 49 were from the Greater Malé area, while 106 cases were recorded from inhabited islands, 6 cases from operational resorts and 1 case from a live aboard.

Maldives has recorded a total number of 83,494 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,708 are currently active. To date, 81,544 patients have made full recoveries. The country has recorded 229 Covid-19 related fatalities.

Meanwhile, Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) revealed that Addu City recorded 9 new cases as of Saturday. The statistics released by AEH showed that with the additional cases, the total number of active cases in Addu City is now at 224. Hospitalized Covid-19 patients have increased to 4 in Addu City.

At present, the highest number of active cases are in Maradhoo with 102 cases, followed by Hithadhoo with 61 active Covid-19 cases and Feydhoo with 37 cases, while Maradhoofeydhoo has 5 cases.

The remaining two islands in Addu City, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo was brought into monitoring status on September 4th after Covid-19 cases started to rise in the islands. AEH informs that there are 12 active cases in Meedhoo and 6 active cases in Hulhudhoo as of this Sunday.

One new case was recorded in Gan as of 18 September 2021.
