Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman to officially inaugurate King Salman Mosque

Saudi Arabia – Maldives Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohamed Khaleel today said that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammad bin Salman will officially inaugurate King Salman Mosque in Maldives.

King Salman Mosque located on Boduthakurufaan road of capital city Malé, is a USD 25 million project started by the previous government, with the government of Saudi Arabia pledging USD 14.5 million for the project.

Saudi delegation headed by Under Secretary of Ministry of Islamic Affairs Awwad Sabty Alenezi in the Maldives in August to discuss the opening of the mosque.

It will be the largest mosque in the country and will stand as a true symbol of the brotherly relations between Maldives and Saudi Arabia.

Arab News reports that the mosque is set to open in early 2022 before the holy month of Ramadan.

The mosque is expected to accommodate 4,000 people in congregational prayers on the first two floors, while the rest of the floors include an international library, a centre for teaching Quran, classrooms, a conference hall and various multipurpose halls.
