Deceased soldier Sulthan’s body transported to Maldives

Malé, Maldives – Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) stated that the body of Lance Corporal Mohammad Sulthan Ahmed who passed away during a training exercise in India has been brought back to Maldives this afternoon.

Lance Corporal Mohamed Sultan (22) Rosemead, AA. Himandhoo, died during an organised training activity at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla in India on September 25.

MNDF informs also informs that a postmortem was not performed for the Maldivian soldier as per the family’s wishes although postmortems are enforced by the Indian legislature for unexplained deaths during military training.

Lance Corporal Sulthan is to be buried in a military funeral this evening, with Salat al-Janazah to be observed after the Maghrib prayers today at Aasahara.
