Police publicly summon foreign national linked to child sexual abuse

Malé, Maldives – The Maldives Police have publicized summons for Yunus (52) of Bangladesh to report to the GDh. Faresmaadhodaa police station for questioning regarding sexual abuse of a minor.

The police statement reads that they are unable to locate the foreigner to dispatch summons and thereby made a public announcement as per Article 27 of the Police Code.

Yunus, passport number BC0642839 is to attend the GDh. Faresmaathodaa police station at 14:00 on 30 October 2021.

Earlier in August, police reported that a 17 year old was sexually abused in the Upper South Division covering Gaafu Alif and Gaafu Dhaal.

While there has been an increase of child sex abuse cases in the Southern Maldives, the Addu City Hithadhoo Magistrate Court sentenced a man for sexually abusing a minor to imprisonment for 10 years in September.
