COVID-19: Addu City under monitoring for the longest period

Malé, Maldives – Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) informed today that of the 15 isands under monitoring, Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoofeydhoo and Feydhoo have been under monitoring status for the longest period of time.

The joint islands of Addu City were placed under monitoring on 28 August 2021. All districts of Addu City are still under monitoring with an increase in cases according to the most recent data with Addu City constituting 6 of the 15 monitored islands.

In addition to Addu City, GA. Gemanafushi, Th. Dhiyamigili, F. Nilandhoo, N. Velidhoo, L. Fonadhoo, Dh. Maaenboodhoo, L. Gan, N. Lhohi, Sh. Feevah and B. Thulhaadhoo.

B. Thulhaadhoo was placed under monitoring status yesterday.

Meanwhile, the total number of new cases recorded as of yesterday were 106, with 21 cases recorded in the Greater Malé area and 78 in the inhabited islands. 7 cases were recorded from operational resorts in the Maldives.

A disproportionately large number of positive cases are being recorded in the islands.
